Interior painting tips for winter in NZ
Winter’s a great time to freshen up the inside of your home, especially here in Tūrangi, where the weather keeps most of us indoors. If you’re planning a project, here are a few tips to help your interior painting go smoothly during the colder months.
1. Choose the Right Paint
In winter, slower drying times can be a challenge. We use quality paints that cure well even in cooler temperatures, so the finish still comes out smooth and durable.
2. Keep the Air Moving
It’s tempting to shut everything up, but air flow is still important. We recommend opening windows a crack when possible or using fans and dehumidifiers to help the paint set properly.
3. Warm Up the Room First
Painting in a cold room can lead to uneven coats. If the space is too chilly, we’ll often bring in a small heater beforehand—just enough to take the edge off before we start.
4. Go Room by Room
Instead of trying to do the whole house, focus on one area at a time. It keeps things manageable, especially when you’re trying to keep the home warm and liveable.
5. Book Ahead
Winter is when we focus on interior work, so our schedule fills up quickly.
If you're thinking about refreshing your space, it's a good idea to book in advance.
